my husband was served divorce papers in TN on may24 and was mailed a notice for a hearing to set pedente lite child support. he chose not to show up for the hearing. the judge ordered a rather large amount of temporary alimony(which I didn't even know my attorney was asking for) and child support by wage assignment. The amount she ordered is the total amount of his monthly salary. what happens now and will i actually be able to collect the full amount? He lives in IL.

He might be able to get that decision tossed out, if he can show he got no notice of the hearing.

The amount is unusual, too, but I'm unfamiliar w/the laws in your state, so maybe that's not outrageous in your state.

If he doesn't contest the amount, then he will have to pay you eventually.

If he doesn't do it voluntarily, then he can have his wages garnished until it is paid.

Your attorney will be able to explain that process to you.

Best of luck to you!
