What is the name of your state? VA

I had initiated Small Claims case to recover money $1200 I had loaned to a co-worker (who had family emergency), The co-worker quit the job voluntarily.
ex -coworker blocked my calls and not responding to personal emails. Civil warrant could not be served since he vacated apartment.

how to find new address?
i believe the Judge won't proceed with hearing without service to defendant. what to do ? I know one other creditor (pay day loan defendant had taken ) . the other creditor won't give out any info. Looks like all doors are closing.
Can I ask Sheriff's office to assist me in finding this person's new address?
Is there any others(Agency, private investigator) who can find address?
I have public case information(Defendant was sued previously) on other out of state creditors.

Refer to https://law.lis.virginia.gov/vacode/title8.01/chapter8/section8.01-316/ for information on service by publication.

You will need to make a diligent effort to figure out the defendant's whereabouts. There are tons of online resources for this - and you may want to hire a private investigator (if you feel it's worth it). The cost of the PI isn't recoverable, but the costs of publication may be awarded to you by the court. The sheriff won't help with locating him - it's not their job.
