I bought a new computer from Dell earlier this month. I prices the whole system, and paid online with a credit card. The price was $1115.
When I checked my credit card statement there was a charge for $1115 and another charge entry for $77 (both from Dell). I could not figure out why they charged me $77. It turns out that they added on state tax after the fact but never told me. The original email I received from Dell showing the charge detail shows that they charged me $8 for tax which turn out was for the shipping. I did not expect to have that $77 charge.
I think they should be upfront about the actual cost. In the terms and conditions in small print they say they will charge tax for purchased in the state of California but it does not say it will come as a separate charge..
I am going to dispute the charge on my Credit Card but do I have a case?
