i went to a dentist about 3 months ago, to get an estitmate on my teeth..he did not right away come out and tell me how much he charged, and told me i need to get exrays....get exrays before he tells me how much it will cost to fix my teeth? i just wanted to know how much a crown was, root cannal, etc....i did not come in his office to use my insurance , charge me a bill . i just wanted to find out how much he charged on his work....now i have a bill, and i fell like he took avantage of me...is there something i could do about this, i get a bill every month, what the insurance did not cover.

You can't expect to know what kind of work you need, OR how much it will cost, without being evaluated by the doctor. Pay your bill.

$45?

You got off really lightly.

And seriously, don't get any more procedures or exams done before you find out the cost.

He essentially charged you a diagnostic fee. There is nothing illegal, unethical, improper, or unreasonable about that.
