I'm taking someone to court for not returning any of my belongings totalling about $3200.00. This includes electronics such as my computer (1.5 years old), kitchen & bath supplies and countless other household items. Should the judge rule in my favor, i've been told that I will probably not get the total $3200.00 that i'm asking for but a depreciated amount.

Would anyone happen to know the calculation the judge would use to depreciate my total claim? I'm just interested as I haven't really seen any sort of calculation of the sort on this forum.

Thanks

There is no 'standard' depreciation formula. You will need to do your own research on its CURRENT (depreciated) value.

Some of it will be fairly simple.... start by going on ebay and checking for completed auctions for the same items/features, etc. as your property.

As for general 'stuff'.... clothes etc, figure it depreciated about 50% in the first year.... then drops about 25% per year until it holds at about 10% of its original retail price.
