Hi,

It's always nice to find helpful resources like this forum. I've been working my self on the patent documents and right now I am at the detailed description(drawings).

Question:
While describing FIG.1 can I mention that a more detailed explanation will be provided on description of FIG. 2?

Also, can someone recommend an IP practitioner in British Columbia, Canada who can review my documentation before I send it (for an US patent). I thank in advance.

By the way, how much should I expect to be charged just for a revision of a 15 pages document for a relatively simple, web site related patent?

Thanks,
APMNTMWhat is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Yes, you can state that a later figure describes more detail. However, the general practice is to simply describe figure 1, and then in figure 2 state that it is a more detailed look at a piece of figure 1, or whatever -- that ordering is the more common practice.

You can search here for patent agents and attorneys registered before the USPTO: https://oedci.uspto.gov/OEDCI/. There are 659 registered attorneys and agents listed for Canada, maybe you can find one that can help you out.

Are you planning on only seeking U.S. protection, or are you also planning on seeking protection in Canada, or any other countries? If U.S. only, find someone who is registered before the USPTO to help you out, and file in the U.S.

However, if you intend to seek protection in places other than the U.S., you probably don't want to file your first application in the U.S. -- most likely you would want to file an application in Canada, then using the PCT designate the U.S. and any other countries you are seeking protection in on the PCT application. For this, you would most likely want a Canadian patent practitioner, and you should contact the Canadian Patent Office for help there.

By the way, how much should I expect to be charged just for a revision of a 15 pages document for a relatively simple, web site related patent?

Depends on who is doing it, and how much work it is. This is something you can ask when you contact an attorney or agent.
