What is the name of your state? AZ

Can anyone give me some insight as to what extra steps (if any) have to be taken to have judgements discharged in a BK7?

Thanks in advance

nothing special, if it's a dischargeable debt, it will be discharged.

Not correct. Once the discharged is issued, you will have to file a 'Motion to Vacate' with the court. The court may then set a hearing and both sides would be asked to appear. Show up with the discharge paperwork and that the judgment was included and the court should grant your motion.

you only have to jump thru loops if there's a judgement lien or you want the judgement to be vacated (totally taken off credit report, etc).

otherwise, the debt is discharged (if it's for a dischargeable debt), the judgement will show up on credit report, but it should be noted as discharged (vaporized) in bankruptcy.

Not quite right. The debt that caused the judgment will be vaporized, but unless the judgment is vacated, it will sit on your credit report like a poisonous toad and show up as still valid. Once you get the judgment vacated, it IS possible to get the thing OFF your credit reports.

Go over to www.creditboards.com for info on how to accomplish that.

Thank you all for the information. I have no judgements yet, but they are on the horizon! Just trying to cover my bases before the dam breaks!! Thanks again.

the question was, if there's any extra steps to getting a judgement discharged (not, how do i get a discharged judgement remove from my cr).

the answer is NO (nothing special to get a judgement discharged), unless it's a judgement lien OR you want the judgement to be erase from your cr.

once the judgement is discharged, it will still be listed on your cr, however, the cr CAN'T still report it as outstanding (that's false). they have to list it as discharged/satisfied, of course you have to make the cr aware of this.

Thank you Anadude for the additional clarification. I realized (too late!) that my original question was over simplified! The other responses were just "reading between the lines" to give me answers to the rest of the question I should have asked!

Anyway...thanks again for the responses.
