What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? WA
I'm on or was on the board of a fishing club here in WA. We have a member that likes to see things stirred up and had it in for a woman in our club in November 08 and apparently me also. Here is the text from his resignation letter which he has since recinded. The statement about women leads me to believe there is a discrimination case here. Any input would be appreciated.
Letter read as follows:
I am resigning from the Board, because there is some on the board that likes to start trouble, amongs’t the board members, and when I asked, Kelli Mack Who? She would not say! I think she is just trying to cause problems in the club! In November of 08, she pulled the same S***! And I told the general members that I was sorry to Kelli. But again she refuses to tell who said what? At the board meeting in November 08, I did say, that if that b**** comes, I am going to leave. I was talking about that other woman who caused so much trouble. She was our cook, you put the name in the spaces. Van and some one went to Kelli, and said I was talking about her. Well I am sick and tired of being accused of starting trouble!! I apolgized once, and refuse to apologise Again! And Who is Kelli to say Rich Braun, is not a good president? She will get her nose chewed off by him. Because he has seen the Crap she was starting to say, on e mails, to me and him. Like Carl R said we need to work together and Stop the Bull S***!! With a “Sad Heart” I am bowing out of the board. I have been a member in the club for 25 years. And on the board for 10 to 15 years! I have never seen so much back stabbing as we have had since we voted in women on the board! Until the club realizes who the ******* is that likes to cause trouble? I’m out of the board and it Hurts! This club meant a lot to me! So good By….
Sincerely,
W***** E*****

how is that discrimination? The guy doesn't like women on the board and he believes that is when whatever problems you all have started. How is that discrimination? It is either opinion or fact.

The guy did not take any action due to a woman being involved short of resigning.

Yes, he has caused me distraught. He has recinded his resignation and has spoke ill of me to other members. There has to be a law broken here. Women on the board causing problems, no not a observation a poorly decided choice of words.

what law do you even venture to guess has been broken?

He has taken no discriminatory action but even if he had, it may not be illegal. I do not know everything needed about your club to make any true call but it is very likely that not allowing women in the club itself may very well be legal.

Regardless, from what you posted, he had done nothing illegal.

There is no law that says you must be free of distraught feelings. If what was written bothered you, I'm sorry, but it is neither unlawful nor the cause of any civil action.

If we could sue over people getting angry at others, we could tie the courts up from now until forever with every argument we get in!

Accept the resignation and move on.

If I were to say that women were the cattiest creatures on this earth would that cause you distraught(sic)?

Would you think I'm being discriminatory?

Oh well  so be it. I know my kind.
