Discrimination...or not?

What is the name of your state?FL

I don't know If this is discrimination or not.

I am in college and also have recently acquired this full time job. Everyone at this job can understand and speak English. I am the only person there who understands very little Spanish (although the longer I have worked there, the more Spanish I have "picked up")

We have recently had a mandatory employee meeting. The meeting was held in Spanish. I stood there for about 5 minutes thinking the manager would also repeat what was said in English. Well that didn't happen...After 15 minutes I just walked away and tended to other stuff in the store. They all laughed at me and the manager stated that the assistant manger would interpret for me after the meeting was done.

30 minutes later the meeting was over. I asked the Assistant manager "What did I miss?" His answer was “The manager is going on Vacation for 3 weeks. So if you have any problems let me know"

I highly doubt that 45 minutes of Spanish equate to two sentences.

Because everyone that works there is Hispanic and bilingual....But me....I feel that this was a form of discrimination. I feel as if I am being singled out.

I don't know what I want to do ...or if there is anything I can do.

Is this discrimination?

Even if it is, a single instance is not enough to provide you with a claim.

Heck, no, it's not discrimination.

Do you have any idea how many non-English speaking employees (Hispanics, Laotians, Vietnamese, etc.) sit through meetings at work held only in English where no translation is available???

Thanks for your replies.

True, I guess I just got a taste of what they go through. And I have to say that it doesn't taste good.
