What is the name of your state? Indiana

My daughter is 18 months old and is batteling with eczema. She runs a fever everyday and has open sores over 95% of her body. SHe was referred to a pediatric dermatologist at a children hospital. We visited this dermatologist and he was excellent. He gave us a treatment plan and described exactly what to do. We went home and immediately went to work. She gradually improved within a week but all of a sudden took a turn. We were back at square one again. We were to visit the Dr back again 2 weeks after the first visit in whic we did return to see him. He entered the room and his mouth dropped. I was thinking ok well his plan did not work so now he will prescribe another plan. Well lets say he started to bash me. Remind you this is only the 2nd visit. He begun to say that I failed and I do not have the time nor the love to care for my daughter. On top of that he stated I should not be allowed to have anymore children. He also then begun to say my house is probably filthy and that is why she is not well. After all that was said in done he said I have no solution for your personal problems. Wait a minute when did coming here for treatment for my daughter become about me. I guess he was upset at the fact I am single, 25 years of age and have 3 kids. He went on to say kids with out two parents are negelected. I then proceeded to grab up my child and left.

He failed to change her treatment saying I did not follow thru with the treatment. I feel as if my daughter is suffering because she has no relief. We have found another dermatologist she will be seeing on Thursday.

SHould I be filing a complaint about this Dr. and should I file a discrimination lawsuit? Any help will be great.

I guess you didn't get the point.

I don't believe a word you said. I happen to have a child with the same affliction and she has been free from outbreaks for two years due to a lower level of stress and medication.

And since you had the medication, there's only one thing left. And your mouth just proved that hasn't changed.

go ahead and file suit against the Dr. You're more than welcome. And when his attorney proves his case that it was environmental factor that added to the child's disease and that you failed to recognize that fact, you're on your way out of the courthouse with a large legal bill and a child with a disease.

Wonderful parent here.

I accepted the fact it could be an enviormental reaction but I did not have to accept that he was god and his treatment had to work. He could have very easily said keep up the current treatment and I will check her again in 2 weeks but no he wen't on to shame me.

Since you seem like the MD type then you should know that diseases act different in each child. My daughter has flare ups 24/7 and your child's case can be no where compared to my daughters.

Snoogie, to my knowledge, it is highly unlikely for a patient/patient's parent to win a lawsuit against a physician because the physician was rude.

Unprofessional/impolite does not = illegal.

You are free to complain to the administrator of the hospital or clinic where this physician works or to your health department. Request a written response to your complaint.

I will start with the nice approach...

You have not told us the WHOLE story. Give us everything first, then i will comment.

As for lawsuit, no, you have no basis for a lawsuit. Providers can be as rude as they want, they will just lose patients if they are. It is not illegal to be rude to anyone.
