What is the name of your state? NC
As most know we here in Western NC are overrun with Mexican speaking peoples.
A local store that I ususally don't go to any longer because they rarly speek English anymore and I have had problems in the past.
One of my kids was sick over the weekend so this store was the closest and open early in the morning. I had went picked up some meds then knowing my kids where sick decided to pick up some coldcuts. I waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone even noticed I was there, one white women was refilling a big role of plastic wrap and was bissy. At least 3-4 others kept sticking there head out of the doorway and never came over once. A few minutes later a few spanish speeking folk come up to the counter and they come out and instintly took care of them I said politly excuse me but I 've waiting for nearly 10 minutes now, I was spoke to in spanish and the women ignored me, I asked the english speeking women what's the deal are you the only one working here to help white people and she said "well I'm usually the only one working when their here".
Most of there anouncements are now in spanish, you get spoken to in spanish when you check out. And I did walk the store looking for someone to point me to a manager but couldn't find one. At the check out I asked if there was a manager available and explained why and was told none would be available for that complaint because we get them all the time. She said hours in the store have been cut so much lately managers work all night stocking shelves and usually aren't available during the day.
In the spirit of the law is this not discrimination ? If I did this reverse in my business wouldn't a law suit be in the winds? Can I file a discrimination case? They would not take care of me because I was english speeking and white.!!

Yes, it's discrimination.
Yes, you can file a discrimination lawsuit.
And Yes, you will be laughed out of court.

What's "Mexican speaking?" The language is Spanish. They can speak Klingon if they want. Do what you would do in any store with bad service--speak to the manager or stop patronizing the store. One set of Grandparents spoke German at home. The other set spoke Irish. Yet they were all United States citizens.

If you want to get technical, mexicans are Americans. So, keep America for Americans. :D :p

As I you said at home. I never heard my parents or grandparents once in my whole life speak anything but english outside our home. Even when I had my friends over growing up they would speak nothing but english. Maybe I was spoiled because my family where all Legal Immagrants and as proud as any United States citizen.

You should really stop while you are able to retain your dignity...
The more you type the more I wonder if English is truly NOT your first language.

If you do not like the service patronize another store.

Sorry but it gets tiring after awhile going to the kids schools or any local event and hearing nothing but spanish, my son has an interpreter standing in front of his class speaking spanish as the teacher speaks english, at any school event everything said is in english then spanish. Sometimes I have to look around and make sure of where I'm at.

Thanks for the sane responses all others:p

That is everywhere, not just SC.

The fact that our country was founded upon accepting people of ALL creed means that we must blend....
Something that is hard to do. Necessary, though. As long as your children are able to comprehend the teacher, you have no other legitimate gripe. The announcements/interpretor/etc. have no direct bearing on your children's ability to learn....
