What is the name of your state?
PA The atty. I hired did a TERRIBLE job.
First, the divorce, he said I could wait until after divorce decree to get the eq. dist., never mentioned a inventory, allowed custody and support to be a bargain tool for divorce.
Second, never mentioned evaluations, never submitted past due medical bills, encouraged me to sign joint custody with no fight and drop CS to $100 mo. and ex would finally sign divorce papers.
(evaluation, inventory, I never even knew these words existed for divorce and custody until I started research to file on my own)
What are the chances this is malpractice and can I actually at least sue for the expenses I paid to this attorney?
Is it even worth trying?

Give examples of what you allege to be malpractice.

Give examples of how these acts of malpractice have hurt you.

I don't allege any to be malpractice yet. I am trying to find out if it is.

Hurt me legally and financially.
I have had to hire another atty. ($1750 to date for him) to try to retrive my equitable distribution from the home, since it was never done.
I am filing Pro Se now for custody and support modification due to the fact that I was encouraged to drop support to $100/mo. in order to get ex to sign divorce papers. Custody mod. due to no mention of an evaluation.
The past due medical bills are at $8000, day care/school is $310/mo. and insurance is $147/mo.
I found on my own evaluations, calculators, everything that is a huge issue in my case.
Is this malpractice in any way or just bad advice?

It's a close call. One problem is that you agreed to the $100/mo.support. He has the right to talk you into a settlement, but you had the right to say no. The equity in the home seems significant, depending on how much it is, because that is a routine matter in divorce. The medical bills are questionable, depending on whether you are sure that he knew about them. You need to talk with an attorney that does attorney malpractice.
