Divorce ~ Cheap and easy?

one child is involved. Would like to divorce, funds limited, someone told me to do it through an online law place 299 for the whole thing, as long as nothing is constested. We have no real assetts, renting home, cars are mine and in my name. Nothing worth much, only the child that family court will decide on at another date. Can we just do that online thing or is that fake? what is a cheap way to do it?

I would check the yellow pages for a divorce kit. In my state they run about $65.00. Follow the instructions enclosed. Here it costs about $110.00 to file it. If nothing is contested, and all is basically settled then they work fine, at least here in Idaho. I have used them three times. Good luck.

Personally, I would be leary of a mail - order divorce.
They may work fine.... I too, Live in New York. But something as sensitive and personal as a divorce, I think going to a real person/lawyer is a better bet.

Especially with a child - - - you want to ensure visitation/custody/ child support/ health insurance, etc for the child.

A mail order divorce is probably not going to be personal and address your needs
