What is the name of your state? OH
I contacted the legal aid office in my county and was told that their lawyers don't handle divorces but I may be eligible for a DIY divorce packet. This will be pretty simple and straightforward....no minor children, no assets to divide(we each took what we wanted when separated 4 years ago) no one is asking for alimony. Has anyone done a DIY divorce and if so....do you have any helpful hints?
Also....my husband lives in another state and at this time is in a medical facility until he is well enough to leave. I am not sure he would receive any papers I may send him. Even if he were to receive them I am not sure that he would be able to read/understand and sign them. Will this matter?

When I was getting divorced, the judge required one of us to have a lawyer. Even though we had kids, we were in agreement on everything, so I paid a lawyer a minimal fee to put my wished in legal form and the judge signed it. My ex had to sign the papers in front of a witness at the clerk's office. That may not be the case in your area. You could call the courthouse and ask??
