What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state? Pennsylvania. I work as a server in a very nice casual/fine dining restaurant in PA. We bank our checks and on occasion a patron will leave without paying the check or due do so many different workers clearing tables and such checks have been known to vanish with all the funds. When this has happened we, as the servers, have been forced to pay the bill or are threatened with the loss of our jobs. Not only that but we also are now being told that as a whole if all closing work is not completed that hours will be deducted from our checks. I feel that we are getting taken advantage of and would love to know if these things are actually legal  . Any info would be appreciated. Thanks :)

Contact PA's Department of Labor and discuss this with them - this is a matter of State law. I seriously doubt you can be required to pay the bill for any "dine and dash" patrons. As to deducting hours from your time card/pay because work isn't completed by closing, that definitely is illegal.
