What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NYC

Hi, I am owe about $3600 for a photography job. My client filed for personal bankruptcy I am not sure if it was chapter 7 or chapter 11. She never send me a form and claims I am not a vendor-which is not the case. Her company was purchase by another company. They kept her name and picture and dropped the INC afterwards. Just found this out. Is the new company liable for paying for the services that I provided? I live in NYC.
