What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? North Carolina?

My stepdaughter is 12 years old and i would like to adopt her. I remember reading that in the state of NC, once a child is 12 years old or older that you do not have to seek the biological dads consent. Does anyone know if this is true.

Yes, you would still need the father's permission (or his parental rights terminated involuntarily by the courts, for just cause). Its simply that at 12, you ALSO need the child's permission.
