i was working as a system administrator part time on an hourly basis. it was requested that i do a training session for a new computer setup with another employee. i took notes for myself while they followed the verbal instructions. since then i have been let go because i was looking for a full time job and they thought it would interfere with my work, they claim that they have rights to the information that i had written even though i had given the person verbal training for the new setup because it was done on "company time". the inforamtion that is contained in these pages are how to setup a new computer, what paths to use and how to install software. do they have a right to this, as i had to go to school and learn this and pay for the education.
the request fromt he company was to show the other employee how to do the procedure. i had given them verbal instructions. i feel if they wanted written it was up to that person to take note, i feel my notes were for myself. who is right?
