I heard that if you are on your permit, which i am for the past 3 months, or under the drinking age of 21 that you can get into serious trouble for driving a drunk or drinking relative home from a party, is this true? If it is then how does it work because wouldn't it be safer to have some drive them home that wasn't drinking or have the drunk person drive themselves home and risk killing themself and possible someone else!

My response:

You're missing the point of the law. You, as a "permitee" are not allowed to drive after dusk. Call the drunk a cab. That's one of your alternatives. Another would be to contact another adult driver. The drunkard has no right to ask you, and you are breaking the law by complying, with a drunkard's request. If you get caught, then it's your license that's suspended until age 18, not the drunkard's.

The idea behind the law is that you have a sober adult, licensed driver, with you in the event of trouble, continuing education, and learning the do's and don'ts. What good is a drunk adult in those matters?

Boy, this is some way to teach, and be a role model, for a young kid.
