What is the name of your state? New Jersey. I recently married a wonderful man who refinanced his home last year. He unfortunately does not have a high school diploma and doesn't read and write very well, usually needing assistance with written material. He used a local mortgage broker, friend of his daughters, and a title agency that the broker works with. To make a long story short there were thousands of dollars paid out of the refi to various creditors that he had no knowledge of and were not his. My husband had no credit cards, which he said he told them, yet no one verified the accounts to be his. In contacting the credit bureaus these accounts have subsequently been removed from his credit file. The largest payout, almost $8,000.00 went to CR Properties; a disbursement he doesn't even know what it is for and was never told about. My husband trusted the mortgage broker to honestly represent him and explain what he was signing and was never informed of his right to contest information on his credit report. He was obviously swindled out of thousands of dollars, does he have any recourse?

"does he have any recourse?"
*** Yes. He can start by contacting EACH of the creditors and finding out the source of their demands for payment.
