What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? NY

I have a question if what I am thinking is possible to be patented. Although what I am about to put is not my specific idea I do believe that the concept will be similar and I can get my answer. Can you take several different items although say from a similar industry combine them together to make them better or even smaller or more convenient with items that already exist. An example i guess could be for instance if you took a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and slippers put them all together we got the onezy. Didn't become the biggest thing but was a creation of the three things for less to have and put on yet still achieving all the same comforts the three items would have given separately. Not sure if clothes can be patented but I know the items I am thinking about can so in that sense they would be similar. I guess another example could be that there is a patent for a dvd player a vcr and a dual dvd/vcr combo pantent right? I hope this makes sense.

Novelty is only one criteria for patentability.
Non-obvious is another. Shoving two inventions into a common box isn't particularly non-obivous.
