I own a business called Childcare Seekers,Inc of S. Hampton Roads. I publish a website and hard copy directory. I have had this business for 3 years. A few months
back a client decided to start her own business doing the
same she is calling herself Hampton Roads Childcare.
I recently purchased the domain name hamptonroadschildcare.
my other domain name is childcare4u.net.
She has called me and said I can not register the domain
name hamptonroadschildcare that it is her business name and if I do not give her the name she will pursue further action. I am not using the name currently I have just purchased the name
Does she have a case? Should I have not purchased the name too. Do I need to sell or give her the name.
She is now calling all my clients and saying I stole her name and would they like to advertise with her.

First. This is not a clear case.

You guys are competitors. And competition gets ugly at times. I am not sure, but by buying HER business' name you may be "cybersquatting".

I'd suggest that you speak to your business'lawyer ASAP. If you don't have one, you may want to consider a Business Legal "Insurance Plan", that you can learn about from the link on the side of this page; it costs about a dollar a day and gives you access to a local lawyer for multiple consultations, free of extra charge.
