Sorry to be such a pain but..... if and when the Colorado lawyer comes to domesticate the judgment in Virginia, do I have a chance then to claim the validity of the amount of the judgment in a Virginia court? Long story but basically the amount is so inflated and through a series of events they received the judgment by default. I am trying to obtain a lawyer in Colorado to help me file whatever motions I can there but due to expense, I am very limited. So, am I clear that they will not be able to file anything unless I am notified that they are filing to domesticate in VA.? And is there absolutely anything I can do at that point? Thanks so much to all you kind knowledgable people out there helping.

You will have the right to notice and a hearing, if you choose to repond. At the hearing, you have the right to assert the same defenses that you could have asserted in Colorado. Since it's a "long story", only you know if you have enough to defeat the judgment or reduce the award.

It's not clear what you are now trying to do in Colorado. If you get "it" going and are not successful there and first, it should tell you something about your chances in Virgina. But, if you are trying to vacate and defeat the judgment in Colorado and are successful, you don't have to worry about Virgina.

Did you find anything further out about this?

I was wondering what you have found out about this? I have also been threatened with domestication on my debt, and have no clue what that means other than lien on property? I too, am facing way inflation on final price of debt most all of it being interest, even while I was making payments monthly!

What are you doing resurrecting a 3-month old post, and only part of the thread at that?

Who is the "you" to whom your question is addressed?

To domesticate means to make one state's judgment enforceable in another. It certainly appeared that you recognized that from your other thread.

What are you trying to get at that wasn't covered in your other post on this subject? You did get accurate answers. Have you done anything about them?

Never mind. The answer to my last question is obvious, so start doing something.

I didn't know what domestication meant.....and I was not posting to YOU!! I was posting to the original poster.

Yes, a lot of my questions were answered by a very Knowledgeable poster from a previous thread.

Rather than posting a new thread, I simply thought that it would be easier to ask someone who was familiar with the word "Domesticate" I was not sure what the meant in all of this, and I did not ask that in my orginal post.

Why are you so bothered??? I really don't see what the problem is? Are you angry?

Angry? No, or I wouldn't have explained what domestication meant.

Bothered? No. Seriously perplexed? Yes. (1) Since domestication is an oft recurring issue, you could have had many more and quicker answers by using the "search" function, (2) it was not clear who "you" alluded to, (3) patchen777 has not posted an any forum since 9/30/05, so I wondered how long you would wait in expectation of the OP's answer and (4) this post is a supplemet to issues raised by the OP in another and were/are most productively viewed in the entire context.

But, in the final analysis, you're correct. If amazement came across as stridency, I apologize. It wasn't intended. If I was really being strident, you would have known without asking.

I wish you the best of luck, while waiting for the OP to return, and I hope you're not waiting for Godot.

And you're right about the prior information. I commended DC on the excellent how-to list.
