What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

My husband has currently been fired from his job for not keeping up on the paper logs they are asking him to submit. However, he is under the impression that since he is running an electronic log, he should NOT have to keep a paper log unless his e-log goes down for some reason. Is this the case? and if so, has he been wrongfully terminated? Please help

If his boss told him to keep paper logs and he didn't keep paper logs, then he can certainly be fired.
If his boss never said a word, yet fired him for not keeping paper logs, that's perfectly legal too.

Wrongful termination is a specific class of reasons that are illegal to terminate someone (age, sex, race, etc...). Your husband was perhaps terminated unfairly, but log keeping issues don't rise to the level of "wrongful." It makes no difference whether he was complying with DOT requirements or not. The company is free to have their own reasons (as long as they didn't ask him to break DOT regulations).

Perhaps in his next job, your husband will keep in mind that unless he owns the company, he does what his boss says. He cannot be asked to violate the law, but he can be asked to do something legal that is not required by the law. If Boss wants paper logs and nothing in the law says he CAN'T do paper logs, then Employee does paper logs EVEN IF the law says paper logs are not required.

No resemblance to a wrongful term, sorry.
