What is the name of your state? Tennessee
My problem is that I went to my Dr that I have been goiong to forever it seems to renew a subscription. The Dr ask me if any thing was bothering me.I told him about my Grandson getting hurt very bad and I was worried about that. The Dr reported it to DHS.I was ok with it.That was in March of this year.I found out last week that my daughter's sister in law went to my doctor and a nurse that she knew asked about my Grandson, she asked, how did you know about his injuries. She told her that I had been to see the Dr,that I wasn't sick or didn't get a perscription. She said that I just went to express my concern's about the baby. She also told her that the Dr reported it to DHS. I feel so violated. My right's were violated. Is there law's to protect patient's about conversation's between the my Dr and I?If so what can I do about it?Because of that nurse,I cannot see my Grandson.I am sick over this.I am not well emotionally as it is and this has made me worse.I go to a psychiatrist over my problems. What little he is helping me,after this happened,I am back to where I started before I started gettin help.My son was murdered and I had a breakdown. How much more can I endure? Is there anything I can do about the gossiping nurse and my right's being violated?

I agree with Ozark. The Physician is a mandated reporter and had an obligation to report it to DHS.

Speak, or write a letter, to the Physician about the incident involving one of his employees. At the very least, she needs to be retrained with regard to HIPAA and confidentiality.

Dr was also a victim

I got to thinking,my Dr was also a victim.Even the DHS is not allowed to say who reported it.So this nurse violated his right's too.The more I think about it,the more upset I get and I am a peaceloving person.I will be talking to my Dr about this, the problem is,I don't know the nurses name that did this horrible thing.Unless they go back to Tuesday's record and look up my daughter's sister in law's chart.Maybe he can see who the nurse was.
