I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.
I wouldn't appeal this on your own, obviously, look where it got you. When it is a strict liability crime like this (i.e. simply that you did it suffices for conviction), it is very hard to appeal.
Get a good attorney whom you can afford. One of three ways you can do this: contact your state bar association (call 411 and ask for state bar) and then ask for their lawyer referral program for low income people.
The second way is to ask either the BAR or look through your yellow pages for the legal aid foundation in your county. They can help you. The third way is to try an attorney in your state at attorneypages.com. A lot of them offer free consultations.
Hope this helps.
