I currently live in Indiana. I was charged with a OWI and chemical test refusal in May. In June I pleaded guilty to the OWI charge and the chemical refusal was supposed to be expunged off my record. I also had to get an IID installed in my car for 6 months and I am on probation until next June. Today I was pulled over for speeding 9 MPH over. I told the officer I have specialized driving privileges and can drive to school and work as long as it is a vehicle with an IID. I was on my way to school when I was being pulled over. The officer walked back to his car when he came back to mine he issued me a ticket for speeding and also for driving while suspended. He told me the information that comes up in is patrol car says my license is suspended and even though I have SPD he must issue me a ticket because the status of my license says suspended not conditional. According to him it should say conditional not suspended and this my be an error on the BMV's end. The officer let me drive away. So I contacted my lawyer he said I shouldn't have received a ticket for driving while suspended since the court granted me driving privileges. He told me to call the court house and set up a court date which I did. However the ticket information has not been processed yet and told me to try back in 5-7 business days. I was just curious as to what peoples thoughts are on this situation and what can I expect to happen.
