Sorry if i am in the wrong forum or something. I live in Alberta Canada but any help is appreciated. I am 15, and was driving with someone I am unsure if they had their non gdl class 5 license (I am allowed to drive with a passenger with this type of license) I slid into another persons car and was in a very small accident where the damage total is probably around 200. I stopped and provided my insurance, but later in the day the person decided to call the police. I went in and filled out a statement, but since I am not in contact with my passenger I am not able to bring him in for him to show the police his license. I was then issued a $310 (A lot for me having no income, and now needing to fix my car that I saved for) ticket for not having the right class of license as I could not prove I was with a passenger that had a class 5 non-gdl license. In Canada, section 11(d) of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms states: "Any person charged with an offence has the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law in a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal" I feel as if I am needing to prove myself innocent instead of them needing to prove me guilty, as I was not stopped by the police while driving, and am now needing to prove my innocence. If anyone has any ideas of what I should do please help me with this. Thank you!
