dropping charges

I had my bf arrested for assaulting me. I have never done this before but can I go to court the day he goes and drop the charges? If so, will he be released or will the state pick up charges? Thanx.

Alot of states will pick up domestic charges even if the victim wants to drop them for this very reason. Women always have thier husbands or partners arrested for domestic violence regardless of who was at fault and then want to drop the charges a couple days later?
