need advice.....i have a girlfriend that has a son, 23yrs old...he lost his lisc due a accident, and judge told him that he needed $800 to repair the damages before he could get his lisc back...my girlfriend got tax refund and paid his judgment..and now he can leggally drive...since he got his lisc back, he now goes out everynight , drinking, and comes in 5am everymorning...my girlfriend gets off work at 10:45pm and he did not even pick her up one night because he was at the bar., and my girlfriends grandchild had to pick her up....what action should she take with her irresponsible son????

Her adult son can and should handle his own issues. She can cut off financial support if applicable, kick him out if he lives with her, or if she wants him to get a DWI tell the cops where he drinks and what kind of car he drives.

she basically paid off the judgement, so he can pick her up after she gets off work..its basically her only source of trasportation, other than her grandchild....thats what sad about this...becasue a dui is comming more likely, and then she will have to rely on others. hes not working, and getting a dui, $2500 fine probably.,,, would be really bad for my girlfriend and his son...he is not responsible, and needs to be addressed somehow?

As was mentioned, she can exercise control over her home and her property and prevent the useless son from utilizing any of her things. If he does not live with her or sponge off of her, then she has little recourse.

She needs to find alternative transportation, and she needs to cut the apron strings to her son.

Why do you keep ignoring the answeres and just complaining? Her house yes? If so, her rules, dont let him take the car out, or, if its his car then dont let him live there. tell him to get out unless he stops taking the car out at night. She needs other transportation. Stop the "whoa is me "attitude. Grandma needs to grow up and take care of it or dont complain. And just a $2500 for a fine??? Try prison and a Lot LOT more $$ if he kills someone.

Your girlfriend SHOULD absolutely go to Al-anon. She'll get good advice there.
