I am currently in the USA on a H1-B visa which expires in October 2001. I have a great idea for a business. However, I personally do not have $500K - $1M to invest.

Question - Can this investment that is put at risk be made by an American investor(directly into the business) or must the investor provide such funds into my account as a gift for me to then put at risk?

I still have not received a response to the question. Is this a grey area? Should I be in direct contact with the INS on this matter?
