Years ago (over 10) my father opened CD's in each of his children's (4) names with my father and mother as joint owners. The CD's have remained untouched and each of us has paid the taxes on the interest earned. In July of last year, each CD was surrendered and new CD's purchased without their names on them. My father is 86 and probably will need to be admitted to a nursing home soon. Will these CD's be considered countable assets? Thank you.
