What is the name of your state?florida, but the case would be in michigan.
my father was in a accident in 1994 which he suffered head trama which resulted in memory loss,he needed to learn everything all over again.i feel that he has been emotionally abused by living with a alcoholic wife, and taken advantage of financially.im not sure what direction we as blood relatives need to do?do we need guardenship? or power of attorney. his wife has abandoned him in the state of florida. what are our options?

You can't get a power of attorney unless he is found competent to give such.

You CAN however, file for guardianship which I would stronly advise just after you contact an elder law specialist in your area.

listen. How do you expect advice that is relevant AND on-point when we don't know you, your father, your children or anything but what you've told us here.

This can turn very complicated very quickly and needs a FULL REVIEW of all relevant facts, documents, medical records and many other things that I can't even think of at this moment.

You will do yourself and your father a disservice if you do NOT call an elder abuse attorney tomorrow to discuss the exact situation .

ANd that is ALL anyone can tell you on an internet forum with any responsibility.

Why did you not mention all of this in your first post?

The one thing you never mentioned is how old your father is today.

Since he is not 'elderly' I would suggest you discuss going with him to an attorney to review all relevant facts of the case to determine if there are any grounds to recover.

Absent that, there isn't much more we can tell you.

Post back after you meet with the attorney.
