i am wondering what my rights are if my ex-roomate was checking my email without my knowing. i recently found out due to all my files being deleted and ip logs. i did give her the password months ago but is there still anything i can do? what are the laws concering this matter? any help would be greatlly appreciated.

Although I am not a lawyer, I do have some great advice for you.
Since you gave her your password, it kinda singles everything out, and doesn't make it illegal. The best thing I can tell you is, change your password, and tell her not to check your email. If she continues to do so, she is violating your privacy, which would be illegal.

Example: You give your friend a key to your house, but eventually you don't want him to have the key so you get your locks changed. If he still comes in your house it's breaking an entry, the same goes with email.
