Brandon, what if you agree to give your dad your SSI checks and not charge him for child support? Would grandma and aunt be able to support you? If its that important that you stay with them, maybe you should think about giving up that money if that's all your dad is after.

My response:

Crystal, that's an unenforceable, and quite illegal, agreement you have suggested. If SSI or a judge ever heard about that, heads will be rolling.

That money must "follow" the child. If the money isn't needed by the child, then the payments from SSI should be cancelled.

Well then I would either not let a judge or SSI find out, or I would cancel it. Does he only get it until he's 18? If so, then he only gets it for 3 yrs (he's 15 right?). So he should be able to get by without it. SSI usually isnt very much, right?
