employee handbooks

Are employers required by law to give employee handbooks to their staff? I work for a company in Missouri, and we have yet to recieve our handbooks, even though our supervisors seem to quote from them, i.e. "company policy states . . ." Please advise.

I don't know Missouri's laws since I am only licensed in California to practice law. Generally speaking, an employer has to allow all employees the opportunity to review the company's policy handbook at a convenient time. This is usually done in the HR department. Also, employers usually give an abridged copy of the handbook to new employees. You may want to consult with a labor law attorney near you.
