Hi. I shall keep this brief! Shop I work in has been flooded by leak from business upstairs. Landlord and business owner notified. None of the lights are operational, some sockets are operational for plugging other lights in. Two concerns: firstly is shop safe (should it be evacuated whilst safety checks are carried out?) Secondly, once it gets dark it will be dark in shop also (only support lights to use) is it legal to expect staff to work in semi darkness as surely this increases risk of injury and theft/robbery? Any advice appreciated! TIA.

First, this forum is for US law only.
Second, there's no way we can tell you if the shop is "safe".

I would contact your local Occupational Safety and Health Administration office about this. Flooded walls + electrical sockets don't sound too safe to me.
