Guess I was wrong to think good minds congregate here for solid advice or those responding own a business, manage employees, and the like.

ummm....you should probably apologize to the people who gave you solid advice, and to the people who have worked in HR for many years that gave you advice.

If you read the terms of service--everyone that posts is a volunteer. Your response was rude and hateful to the people who offered good solid advice!

I am not saying you SHOULD fire them - I am saying you COULD fire them.

I am attempting to make the point that there is NO confidentiality issue here. You MAY discuss the theft, ask questions about the theft, discuss one employee with another, discuss one employee's actions with another, regardless of whether they do or do not live together and you face no legal liability whatsoever. You can (up to you whether to do it it or not, but you CAN) fire the lot of them and the worst that could happen is that they get unemployment.

THERE ARE NO PRIVACY RIGHTS AND NO CONFIDENTIALITY LAWS THAT APPLY IN THIS SITUATION.

Are we quite clear on this now? Because if not, you can fork over that $400 you were so worried about to an attorney who will tell you the same thing I just did.

That was my main concern, in regards to the confidentiality side of things.

I was unclear as to what can /can not be discussed and with or about whom.

Your answered cleared that up for me, thank you

The $400/hr comment was in response to Blue Meanies "pearls of wisdom", as stated previous.

Blue Meanie and Zigner "liking" each others one sentence posts, is not advice, but more of inflating one's post count.

CBG / HC1432 / and all others whom expounded beyond the casual 1 sentence "Fire them" or "Consult your lawyer" ...assets to this forum, and I thank you for your advice.

Blue Meanie / Zigner....not so much.

I told you that in my very first post. And we still had to go on for two pages before you got it. Do you wonder why people were getting frustrated?

I do, but like any financially responsible BO, I'd rather try to avoid a $400/hr conversation if I can.

Guess you were wrong to make a remark like that, even after you'd already received good advice from professionals. For free.

$400 wouldn't begin to cover it: OP would require several hours of attorney-time to get what you freely delivered in mere minutes. At least here he can read it over and over and over, till it begins to make a little bit of sense.
