Good morning all-

My employer has not paid my final paycheck, and after calling this morning I was told that the boss was holding it. When I asked why no-one could give me a straight answer. I have turned in every thing which belonged to the company.

So my question is this- by law is it legal for them to hold a final check? By the way, I live in MD. If anyone has any info on this It'd be most helpful, and please tell me what I can reference to get this in print.

Thanks and have a great day!

Maryland reg's require that final pay be issued no later than the next regular payday following the employee's separation. Call your employer back up and tell them (nicely) that if your paycheck is not provided to you immediately, you will have no choice but to file a complaint with MD's Department of Labor.
