I'm an employee at a hair salon, of which I am planning to quit. They are threatening to fine me for training of which I recieved during the year and a couple months I have worked there, if I quit before the 2 year contract is up. They have also hired private investigators to make sure I don't go to other salons. It is written in the contract that they are able to do this, but can they actually get away with this? It seems pretty messed up. I'm from Pittsburgh PA

Though I haven't read the contract, I'm sure it has language in it that will protect the employer's interest concerning the training you received. It might be better if you just waited until you complete the 2 year period of your contract and then look for other employment.

That is impossible unfortunately as I am moving. Would it help if I posted the contract on this forum?

No, it would help if you showed the contract to an attorney licensed in PA.
