What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Illinois

So I was currently terminated (layoff due to downsizing) last week from my job which I was a contractor at. I am trying to retrieve my diabetes medication and glucosemeter but I think the company already through it out. The thing is the medications and glucosemeter are very expensive. Can I bring a case against them?

Maybe. Why would you leave such important materials there when you left knowing you weren't coming back?

Macc, this isn't answering your legal inquiry but if you need a replacement there is very often help available if you need a unit, strips, insulin etc. Try the manufacturer first, or if you're really desperate pick up one of the cheaper alternatives from Walmart. Their kit is very reasonably priced.

I was told I was terminated after I had left work for the week.

So you were already out of the building and home? Did you inquire about your personal property during this discussion?

What have you done to inquire about retrieving the property to date? Have you informed somebody at the company you have valuable medical equipment there?

CTU: apparently Macc has another glucosemeter at home or he wouldn't have left the one at work, at work. Strips are readily available and as is insulin if needed.

What reason has the employer given you to make you think that they threw it out?
