What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

I have a multitude of forthcoming medical appointments. Although I will be using my accrued time off for the appointments, I advised my new manager via email of my chronic illness and the need to schedule the appointments. I thought it best to do so because appointments will continue throughout the rest of my life. I hope to continue working until full retirement age.

The reply I received is that there is no concern and that we just need to keep the channel of communication open. My question is: Are there any additional steps that I need to take to protect my job? My performance is good and I have good work ethics. I haven't taken a sick day in over a year.

Thank you

It's good that your manager is understanding however I suggest you also contact HR and apply for FMLA and any statutory leave under California regulations. If your employer isn't sizeable enough for either of those to apply, then you'll have to count on your manager's continuing good will.
