On 2-4-2000 I quit my job of 27 years after giving 2 weeks notice.
It is company policy as noted in the employee handbook that each employee shall be given a performance evaluation once a year on the anniversary of his hire date.
This evaluation must be completed prior to the employee receiving
a pay increase. Two of the last three years I had no pay increase. I
asked my supervisor once each month for the past ten months. His response was positive, but I never got a raise or an answer.
I was becoming very frustrated. I spoke with an HR employment contact.
She looked at my file and found that I had not been given an evaluation for 10 years. She asked if I would stay if she could resolve the evaluation issue. I said yes. The next day I was given my evaluation on the shop floor where people passing by could hear my supervisor yelling. He seemed very unhappy that he had been forced to evaluate me.
The evaluation was extremely bad, one that I did not agree with.
My supervisor told me " you should know what I think, you are 51 years old, my kids are more mature than you”. I felt that he was forcing me to quit.
My question is do you think that I may have any legal recourse action.
Thank you, Jack
