What is the name of your state? Ohio

I work fulltime in Ohio. Today my boss approached me and said he was cutting my hours from 8 hours a day to 5.5 hours a day. He alluded this is because I am to take a leave of absence on 2/7/03 to 9/26/03 so I can attend boot camp and training for the Air Force Reserve. Since I am a full time employee, don't my hours have to maintain a full time status? I am quite aware that my job is protected since I am in the military, but I am unaware to what extremes I am protected. Please advise.

Cutting your hours because of your membership in the military and/or upcoming military leave is unlawful.

The simplest way to resolve this is to contact your recruiting officer or the JAG office at your base and explain the situation to them. In most instances they will be happy to give an employer a phone call, explain the legal requirements, and resolve the situation amicably. At the moment, let's assume your employer is unaware that what they're doing is prohibited. Many employers aren't familiar with the particulars of USERRA and related laws.
