What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? texas

I went into the hospital for an eye infection, and while your waiting on the doctor the registration people comes around with a computer and scan your wrist band to make sure you have insurance, ask questions about the information they have in their records and so forth. The problem began when they did not come. After I was discharge by the doctor, I was walking out the emergency room the lady that does the record keeping asked if I was Mr. Joseph, I said yes and she told me that she made a mistake and though someone came there with me so she had them do my paper work and sign certain papers, so while she was bring up my info again she was telling me, oh don't worry I dought if see seen anything cause she did not read it really she just signed off on everything. So I left and went to the H&R department and told her boss what had happened. The boss tried to clam me down cause I was upset, then finally after making some calls she told me that none of my information was jeopardize and it a mistake on the part of their staff. I think they violated my patient confidential rights by giving the other person i don't know my information and having them sign my papers. Should I contact a lawyer?

why

Why when they release my information to someone I DO NOT KNOW?
In order for them to do their work properly they would have to ask the person questions and have them read the information to sign off on, So I feel my personal information was at risk. Someone had access to my information! That is against the law Right? OR am I missing something? Please explain if possible?

First, your post isn't clear that they 'released' ANY information or that if they did, what might have been 'released'.

So, yes, as I suggested.... you can certainly talk with a local attorney and try to explain to them what is missing here... WHAT was released??

That is what I am saying

I went there BY MYSELF, the lady thought that someone was with me and them sign and have paper work! I did not know this happen until I was discharged and was walking out the hospital.

papers signed in the er are for authorization of treatment, not release of medical info unless it is being released to your insurance company. They only tell them about that visit,. You have no case here at all.
