What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Alabama
My bank of America card is used very rarely. It was used for a small, insignificant purchase, about $5 a month back. To be honest, I had forgotten about it (mistake). I have a credit monitoring service who notified me of potential bad reports on my credit from Experian from BOA. I contacted BOA right away. Paid them the money, now $8 by electronic transfer, and asked that the bad report be removed. They refused. I must have really p---ed them off. The next day they also reported the delinquent payment to Equifax, and Transunion. I requested a dispute of the information with all 3 credit reporting agencies. I have only heard back from Experian. The bad report remains. Then the strangest thing happens. My other credit card “Discover” contacts me to report a $700 purchase made online by someone other than myself. They caught it, and did not charge me. Freezing the account. Issuing a new card. Good people to deal with. The time frame is a little more than suspicious. This has never happened to me before.
In order to pay any bill the customer must know, 1.There is a bill 2.The amount to be paid.3.An address to send the money to. I never received a bill from BOA. No phone call. No email. Nothing. I receive bills all the time at this address. I pay my bills on time. But this one I never received. Apparently banks are more believable than customers In the credit report world.
Is there anything I can do further to clear this one bad blemish now on my credit report? Who can help me? How can I proceed?
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration with this.

The terms you agreed to as a condition of using the card state you are responsible for making timely payments even if you claim to not have received a bill.

Most card issuers these days offer tools such as emails and text alerts to let customers know their balance and when payment is due. If you choose not to take advantage of these then you have only yourself to blame.

If the report on your credit record is accurate there is nothing you can do but ask. There is no "delete" button and the creditors are not obligated to remove the report so long as it is accurate. Consider it a lesson learned.

What happened with your Discover card is unrelated.

Why does your thread's title say this is an erroneous report? You missed a payment and are being reported as such. Why should accurate information be removed?

That is because of the erroneous belief that if the card issuer wanted to be paid they would have the decency to send a bill. I asked for advice. Not criticism.
When I bought my last house, the closing attorney told me he had never seen a credit score so high. I pay my bills. I hate to see it brought down. It's $8 for crying out loud! If I received a bill in the mail I would have paid it. I NEVER GOT A BILL.
Thank you to the first poster.

They may have sent a bill. It may have been lost in the mail. That does not relieve you of your obligation to pay it. I suggest you set up email notification. I get an email about a week before the bill with the amount of the bill.
