Hello, I am attempting to establish paternity of my infant daughter. Me and my daughters mother have been living together for the last 2.5 years. At the time of conception we were living together, but her divorce had not yet been finalized. Under Ohio law Her ex-husbands name had to go on the birth certificate as the father (much to my chagrin!). Her ex-husband has no problem denying paternity, and has signed a notarized statement stating he is not my daughters father. My problem is this: Noone seems to know what agency to contact to make a change on her birth certificate, or what steps are necessary to make the change. All I keep getting is the runaround, from the health department, human services, child support agencies and so on. Some agencies say we need to have a court order, some say it is just a matter of the proper paperwork being filed. I am willing to do whatever is necessary to establish myself as my daughters recognized legal father. Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.
