Hello, for UK
2 years ago i purchased my macbook pro from a curry's store, i bought applecare with it.
since then, my laptop has been in for many repairs, all of which were covered by applecare ( indicating that apple realised it was something that was not the fault of the user ), the most recent repair being about a month and a half ago
now, this morning my laptop did the same thing again, it turnd off on me and now has a problem starting up, and again, its not a 'huge' problem, as i have applecare and they will fix it for me.
Here is where the problem is - this has happened so many times now, that i am convinced that it will continue to keep happening, and my applecare runs out in january 2016. So if i have the same problem again, then it will mean that after january, repairs that were being done for free (normally costing £40-£70) will now start costing me.
i called apple this morning to voice the problem, stating that i dont think its fair that once my applecare runs out, if i keep having the same problems over and over again, that i will suddenly have to start paying for it, how many times will this laptop have to breakdown before you guys realise it is faulty? i need a new one, i dont expect a brand new one, but a refurbished one with the option to pay for applecare again incase even with a new machine i keep having the same problems.
I had asked the same question to an apple advisor the last time this happened, and they said to me that it probably wouldn't happen again, and if it did then we would take it from there.
The person on the phone started telling me about EU consumer rights, saying that the people at the 'point of sale' are the ones who are ultimately responsible for the machine for up to 6 years after purchase, he said that until january, i would be fully covered by apple, but then after that, if i had the same problem, i could take it back to curry's and ask them to sort out the problem.
Can someone please tell me how true what he is saying is? because this is quite a big situation for me, i cant afford to start paying like an extra £200-£400 a year just to keep my mac up and running, i would really like some advice about what i should do, i still have a few months until my applecare runs out, and im starting to feel like if i should do anything, or prepare anything, it should be while my applcare is still active
