I have a court date coming up on Aug 22 and I need to how to handle this in court in order to have my case dismissed. This is my situation:

I sold my car in order to pay the tickets that were in collections so that the new owner can register the car, and I can renew my license. because that would remove the stopper that was placed because of my tickets that was in collections. I paid all of the tickets in collections and when i called to confirm the clerk said that I had 3 tickets outstanding. I was told that I need to straighten it out at Ewa District court. Those tickets occurred in 2007, in 2009, I sent a written statement. It was denied.I requested a trial date it was set for September 2009, then there was a clerical error and it was sent to collections in December 2009. The court then recalled the two tickets from collections in September 2010 and rescheduled a trial for October 2010. I knew the reason why I wanted a trial and it was for : the 3 tickets that was issued to me by 3 different officers never filed the notice in a timely manner within 10 calendar days. I honestly do not recall the reason why I missed my trial, but with all kinds of mishaps that I was going through at the time,I would say that I was overwhelmed with life itself and simply forgot about those three tickets. I had numerous outstanding tickets in collections and thought that by paying those, the stopper would be removed thinking that everything is in collections and I did not accumulate additional tickets.
I went to Ewa District court and I filed a motion to dismiss default judgement. When I filed it with the clerk, she said that it was the wrong motion. I need to know which motion would I file based on my situation above.

You're not going to have any recourse to fight these tickets seven or eight years after the fact. You have been presumed guilty and you owe the fine. No motion you will file will likely be considered timely.

I thank you for your feedback. I wanted to know what motion to file? Is there a statue of limitations? Why did the court hang on to these tickets for so long instead of sending them to collections?

Why didn't you ask the court clerk?

Maybe it was a clerical error. You're complaining that it took too long to send tickets to collections?

I doubt that any court would entertain ANY motion so many years after the fact. You can't really blame anyone but yourself for your unpaid tickets.
