My mom wrote once before but said she didnt think she worded this whole mess right so let me have a try. 2 years ago my girlfriend became pregnant and we had a baby girl. We just went to set the mom up on child support and had I the DNA testing done. Turns out I'm not the dad after all. I still want to be in the childs life and I am more than willing to priovide(pay) for anything she ever needs. I still love her very much. The ex-girlfriend admitted there may have been doubt about the father. She said she went to the child support agency before and gave them the bio dads name and his possible whereabouts and there was never any response from him. She said they tried to find him two different times. At the present time the child is living with me. The mom is having some money problems. Is there any way for us to make a shared custody arrangement like what we are doing now and give me some visitation rights and the right to seek medical care when she is with me and also attend school? Me and the mom agree this beautiful little girl derserves a nice home and a father. What can we do? The mom is not willing to give up her rights to the child in any way we just want me to have some. I went to one lawyer that said "you have no legal rights" I just went to another lawyer that said he wants to look into it and check around to see what he can do. I don't want to go for custody as the mom has ALWAYS been great about letting me see the child. Both lawyers have wondered why we cant just petition the court with a shared parenting arrangement and make it legal or adopt. The courts always say they do everything in the best interest of the child so wouldnt it be in her best interest to be provided for and have a daddy not to mention medical insurance. I have paid for EVERYTHING myself the past 2 yeasr and plan to continue when most guys would just run. Please help me out if you can. I am in Ohio. Thanks!
